Over a decade ago, motivated by the desperate need in our world for a different kind of leader, I launched an organization called Lead With Your Life. As the name would suggest, our mission is to equip Kingdom leaders to lead with their lives—to lead from the inside out.
But what does that mean exactly?
Let me unpack it a bit, providing a handful of descriptive statements.
But before you read these statements, let me offer a challenge.
First, in a spirit of self-reflection and with a commitment to always be growing, rate yourself against each statement.
Second, taking your top rating, thank God for the work He has done in your life and leadership.
And third, taking your lowest rating, ask Him to help you grow in that particular area of life and leadership.
• I lead with my life when there is congruence and authenticity between my public life and my private life.
I lead with my life when there is congruence and authenticity between my public life and my private life.
• I lead with my life when I show up to serve out of the overflow of my walk with Christ.
• I lead with my life when my service for God is not based on the applause of others.
• I lead with my life when those who live downstream from my leadership feel loved, valued, and served.
I lead with my life when those who live downstream from my leadership feel loved, valued, and served.
• I lead with my life when there is a remarkable consistency between what I say I will do and what I actually do.
• I lead with my life when I pay attention to how God is preparing me today for what He has in store for me tomorrow.
• I lead with my life when I care more about my character than my credentials or my accomplishments.
• I lead with my life when I embrace my leadership role as a sacred stewardship not as a self-serving entitlement.
I lead with my life when I embrace my leadership role as a sacred stewardship not as a self-serving entitlement.
• I lead with my life when l care less about my position, and more about my influence.
• I lead with my life when God’s active presence is the distinguishing mark of my leadership.
May you be the one who helps to craft a new narrative of what leadership can look like. Something hopeful. Something big. Why? Because everyone’s life gets better when a leader’s life gets stronger.
